Downey is boxed in by the 5, the 105, and the 710 approach, and diesel particulate from that freight corridor is oily rather than dusty, so it smears across paint under a wash mitt instead of rinsing off and leaves a gray film that dulls the finish within days of a wash.
Our approach in Downey always starts with a decontamination wash before any correction or coating — removing embedded contamination is the first step, not an afterthought.
"Downey is boxed in by the 5, the 105, and the 710 approach, and diesel particulate from that freight corridor is oily rather than dusty, so it smears across paint under a wash mitt instead of rinsing off and leaves a gray film that dulls the finish within days of a wash. That's why every Downey vehicle gets a full decon wash before we touch the paint with a machine or coating."

Downey is boxed in by the 5, the 105, and the 710 approach, and diesel particulate from that freight corridor is oily rather than dusty, so it smears across paint under a wash mitt instead of rinsing off and leaves a gray film that dulls the finish within days of a wash. CQ.UK 3.0 ceramic coating creates a hydrophobic barrier that blocks these specific threats before they bond to your clear coat. For Downey vehicles, we recommend starting with a decontamination wash before any coating or correction.
